Kayitz Netzer is LJY-Netzer’s two-week summer tour of Europe for 17 year olds (finishing school year twelve). Kayitz Netzer has been taking Jewish teens through Central Europe for over fifteen years! It’s a trip like no other – an opportunity to learn about the story of Jewish Europe – the roots of our ancestry – in unique LJY-Netzer style. Kayitz Netzer is a unique programme amongst British Jewish youth movements, and is our flagship educational event. Participants explore London, Prague, Budapest and Berlin – four cities rich in Jewish history and culture – and engage with a variety of issues including Jewish identity, Jewish continuity, Israel-Diaspora relations and Holocaust education. Kayitz is an emotional but inspiring journey, which brings together young people from all over the world, creating new friendships and strengthening old ones.
For returning LJY-Netzer participants, Kayitz Netzer is the natural next step along the LJY-Netzer path after Israel Tour, and many ex-participants favourite event! For first-timers, it is an incredible introduction into the world of LJY-Netzer. With a group of your peers, you will see Europe through Liberal Jewish eyes, with informal education and creative prayer delivered by a team of dedicated youth leaders and a trained educator. A trip with a difference, Kayitz Netzer gives you the opportunity to visit fascinating sites as part of a structured programme with free time in each city to explore the local culture. You’ll meet young people from the UK and abroad, and make friends for life!
“There was never a dull moment… friendships and memories were created that will last a lifetime… I wish I could go back!” Helen Goldhill, Kayitz Netzer participant 2012
“It’s like Israel tour, but around Europe! Kayitz is an exciting, emotional inspiring journey – the best two weeks of my life!” Alex Carpenter, Kayitz Netzer participant 2012
Kayitz Netzer this year is from the 18th-30th of August, with an evening orientation event in July (date to be confirmed). The trip begins in London, discovering the vast Jewish history to be found on our own door steps, before we travel on our tour bus to Prague, Budapest and, finally, Berlin. The trip will end back in London on the morning of 30th August, after an overnight journey. We have also invited participants from all other sniffim (branches) of Netzer (our worldwide umbrella movement) including Germany, Spain, Israel and America (as well as our sister movement in the UK, RSY-Netzer) as we prepare to make this year’s Kayitz Netzer a truly international experience.
