Kayitz-Netzer is an experience unlike any other for young Jews. It was my privilege to lead the event in August 2015, and I cannot recommend it highly enough to anyone eligible to take part.
The tour is jointly hosted by LJY-Netzer and RSY-Netzer youth movements, and takes a diverse group of 17 year olds on a journey across southeast Europe. Visiting beautiful and historic cities from Sarajevo to Vienna, participants have a chance to bond and make lifelong friends in beautiful surroundings.
The Balkan region has a turbulent and vivid history. From ancient times to the modern day it has been a meeting point between east and west. From the Romans to the Ottomans and Austrians, up to the fascists and communists of the 20th century and the multicultural democracy of the present day, there are a wealth of exciting stories waiting to be discovered. What’s more, the Jewish story is absolutely central to the region.
Kayitz is honestly a life-changing experience that will exceed all your expectations, whether you’re looking to make new friends, learn about your Jewish heritage, or just discover a part of the world you’ve never visited before.
